About Us

Learning Domain is the brainchild of Dave Emsley.

With over 25 years’ experience in ICT and Computing Education Dave has taught in a number of UK Secondary schools as well as being subject leader, faculty leader, and leading on whole school ICT initiatives.

Heavily involved in the introduction of VLEs into schools in Rotherham. Moodle caught Dave’s attention in early 2005 when he moved to a Kirklees  school and introduced it as the VLE of choice.  This proved very successful and Dave worked with other schools to support their implementation of the same.  During this time Dave also completed a Masters Degree with Sheffield Hallam University in Technology Enhanced Learning, Innovation, and Change.

Forced out of the classroom by ill health Dave formed two companies: Learning Domain and Image-Nation.  The former specifically focusing on eLearning with the latter focused on regular website and graphics design as well as computer aided crafts – another of his passions.

Dave is well known in the Moodle online community and has regularly been awarded the “Particularly Helpful Moodler” award by Moodle themselves.

As well as working with Moodle and online Dave is also an active member of CAS, and a Code Club Ambassador.

Much of the work of Learning Domain comes through PeoplePerHour.com which is a website where freelancers and people requiring support can meet.  On this site Dave has the highest level of certification for quality of work and reliability.

“Dave is a fantastic and super conscientious developer who has been able to help us with complex Moodle setup as well as SDK integration to connect our product into Moodle. Excellent job done well. We are continuing to use Dave’s expertise and will be working with him a lot more in the future. “
